Program Overview

This 6‑week program is built specifically for Mat‑Su and Anchorage runners training through early‑season conditions. The focus is on sustainable development with the right balance of strength, speed, and recovery so you can build fitness safely and arrive on race day ready to run your best.

Training starts: Sunday, March 15th

Race day: Saturday, April 25th

Program Length: 6 weeks

How the VTO Plan Works

  • A Fixed 6‑week Final Surge training calendar

  • Training ranges for multiple experience levels

  • A Structured weekly rhythm of easy runs, long runs, and race‑specific workouts

  • Clear guidance on effort, pacing, and recovery

  • Gradual progression appropriate for each VTO race distance

  • Early‑season adjustments for footing and weather

Athletes communicate through Final Surge or Email with training questions and minor adjustments to support safety, manage injuries, and adapt to life.
